Abdul-Quayyum Almaroof
Founder of Quayyum Global LLC
Creator of ALMAROO™
In 2021, Abdul-Quayyum's family started a new tradition where, during Ramadan, they would come together every weekend and alternate hosting an iftar. They would break fast together, pray salah, and fellowship. This family tradition began once him and his siblings had all moved out of their parent’s house. Over the years, the iftars grew and evolved from just their nuclear family to now including extended family and friends.
Each year, as the iftars expanded, they added a new component to their newfound tradition. In Ramadan of 2023, they decided to add an educational component. With Ramadan being the month of the Qur’an, adding an educational aspect to the iftars felt essential to honoring its significance.
This is where the story of ALMAROO™ began.
-
Abdul-Quayyum started to brainstorm for his iftar… "what would this educational piece look like?"
...Trivia!
-
"How could he get everyone’s buy-in for something educational?"
...Make it a game!
-
"How could he ensure participation from everyone?"
...Make it team based!
-
"How could he make sure it was thrilling?"
...Add a timer for suspense and a buzzer for antics!
-
"With attendees of varying Islamic knowledge and a wide age range, how could he simplify the game?"
...Make it a word association game based on their own knowledge of the displayed word!
-
"With non-Muslim family and friends also attending and participating in Ramadan, how could he make it inclusive for everyone?"
...Include a universal terms category with common words and also provide English translations of key Islamic figures shared with other Abrahamic faiths.
With these questions answered, he was confident the game would blend trivia, quick thinking, and creativity—making it an engaging, inclusive way to reinforce Islamic concepts in a fun, social setting like their iftars.
Wanting it to feel like a real game, he decided to go all the way. He researched, developed, and designed every aspect of the game, then printed out a copy at his local office supply store.
When the day of his iftar finally arrived and it was time to play, the game was a hit! Everyone loved it and encouraged him to develop it into an actual game. The feedback was encouraging, but he had never considered turning the game into a real product. He just wanted to create something that allowed his family to learn and connect over the religion he holds near and dear to his heart.

Fast forward to Ramadan of 2024, and a family friend who had attended Abdul-Quayyum's 2023 iftar reached out with a message:
“Hey Abdul. Do you have an extra set of the Muslim trivia card game you created? I would like to purchase one for my Iftar on Saturday.”
That message was the catalyst that made him realize the game's potential as a real product. He only had the one copy he had printed out the year prior, so he let her borrow it for her iftar. Afterward, he received even more positive feedback, along with inquiries about where people could purchase the game.
At that moment, he knew that ALMAROO™ was bigger than just a family game—it was something he had to share with the world. A unique way to give dawah while showcasing the beauty of Islam. Over the next year, he dedicated himself to researching, developing, iterating, and refining the game, ensuring its accuracy by having it reviewed by people of knowledge.
Quayyum Global LLC now proudly shares ALMAROO™ with the world, praying that Allah allows it to foster meaningful connections, spread the beauty of Islamic knowledge, and truly fulfill its purpose of enlightening minds and uniting hearts wherever it reaches.
Ameen!
